Happy Snaps

Firstly, did a promo shoot with the boys on Sunday. check out the best of the pics on my photography blog.
Secondly, here are the promised not-Ramshackle photos!
I should mention that Cody (the coolpix) is proving himself to be a wise investment, the night time shots are good, which was my main goal. win.

Happy J.
During the Ramshackle shoot. Me and Lopez, official photo editor/myspace guy.

Poker gets boring 3 rounds in...

GINGERS DO HAVE SOULS!!

My tribute to the first female Prime Minister.

And I'd also like to say, I am not going to have an opinion on this. (I know, I know. Me? NOT having an opinion? pfft)

Ok so a bit of one: No matter who we have, they all make mistakes. People just pay a lot more attention to the negatives and we tend to forget people's successes post-fuck-up. No one will ever do a perfect job, especially as there are a lot of different people in this country who need different things to keep happy.

And that, my dear friends (slash people who I've never met who occassionally stumble upon this blog, realise I'm most likely insane and GTFO) is why I do not vote.

AH-Mazing

So, I saw this last night on the Gruen Transfer (for those who don't know, it's basically a show on ABC where they discuss advertising). It's amazing, it makes me want to get in a moving car just so I can put a seatbelt on.

Also, Australia may be getting their first female (ranga) PM later today. Personally, I actually like K. Rudd. I mean, he kept a lot of promises and fixed a lot of John Howards mistakes- saying sorry, signing Kyoto, starting motions on an emissions trading scheme, improving the pension etc. etc. Not to mention, he got us through the worst recession in world history.

Gillard seems like she's a cert, but she's getting a lot of public backlash as her actions are seen as un-Australian by many. Perhaps this will sway the vote of the party members? There's no point changing PM only to decrease your chance of being the leading party.

EDIT: This was my 50th post and I didn't realise! hoorah! Ah... milestones.

Snow and Debauchery

So, I survived!
And you'll probably be disapointed by the lack of debauchery in this post, but I like the word.
I can reveal that we succeeded in making a time machine, but it only goes up.
Also, ski goggles are apparently a lot more useful as Nerf dart shields than anything else.
There may be more photos up later, for some reason when I rotate the vertical ones, they un-rotate once uploaded here. That and if I get my hands on some of the photos on other cameras I'll be bound to find some wee gems to share.
So I should be doing another promo shoot for Ramshackle this weekend (I know, you're sick of their faces, so am I) depending on weather of course. Hoping it goes spectacularly. And you'll be seeing some fresh faces soon now that I've got a camera I can take anywhere, got a few shindigs and such coming up with people other than the Shackle! What an exciting life I lead.

Anyway, here's what you really want, the rest of the photos:

Falling over to find a particularly lovely view.

The Happy Couple

Tony has the best smile. Seriously.

Unfortunately the best photos were mostly portrait. I'll try and fix that issue and get them up.

Just a quick one

No, the title is not about after-work drinks. And (unlike after work drinks- we know how they end up) this really will be a quick one I swear!

Firstly, I'm, watching Sunrise (I live the high life) and currently they're discussing this couple in the UK who are taking a "mini break" whereby the husband spends 3 nights a week living with his daughter instead of at home with his wife. Ok, so this may seem like a good way to fix a relationship and get the space you need before things fall apart, but to me, marriage or living with someone, is NOT 3 days a week. What is this, shared custody between wife and daughter? but seriously, I can see how it would "solve" some problems (read "paper over the cracks and delay the inevitable) but if you're married, and only spending half of your time together, by choice, you shouldn't be married. It's an all or nothing kind of deal, and frankly if and when I take the plunge (not marriage, I don't believe in it but that's another story) I'm not going to be settling for a man who says "Ok, let's live together. 4 days a week. I need my space from you." Ah... No thanks I may as well get a cat.

Ok, that done- I'm planning on getting a new compact camera in the next week, ready for ski trip (mentioned in previous post). I'm wondering what people would recommend? i don't want to spend a huge amount, since i already have Derek, and plan to save up for a friend for him next year. So something around the $200-300 mark. I was thinking of just getting a Nikon Coolpix, but i wanted to see if anyone knows of any really good, reasonably priced compacts. I also like the look of that one with a screen on the front, as we all no there's no point of a compact if you can't take photos of yourself! I want pretty good quality photos, as it's going to be my Derek replacement for drunken nights and those photos are bad enough as it is without noise. Also, ISO is pretty important to me because I don't use flash if I can avoid it. So, if you have an opinion, I'd like to hear it!

And one more thing: The other day, on my bus heading to work, I saw a man yawn while driving a fluoro orange Lotus. I wonder what it take to bring excitement into his life, hmm? Something to ponder.

Peace

Muse

Me and J. got tix. Almost missed out actually, the standing zone sold out in like 30min and we didn't manage to get into the transaction page at all. We decided not to go for seats, as we were 98% certain a second show would be announced, which I personally thought would have a day or so warning before they went on sale. Surprisingly, the second show went on sale just 45min after the first one, and it was lucky my sister happened to be browsing ticketek or we would have done what everyone else did and logged out. Got into the transaction page straight away- Win!

And here's a couple of pictures I dig:

Can't wait to see SATC2 now that it's out. I even have an outfit in mind, which is both bogus and sad. I need a new pair of shoes though, to do Carrie justice.
Also, I'm heading to the snow in less than two weeks. I'm pretty excited, it's just for a few days but I might buy a compact camera before I go so I can get some photos on the sloooopes. I need one anyway so why not now?
Peace.
p.s: sorry for being one of those "we" people in this post. Eurgh.
